Recently I purchased an old OMEGA PLOPROF 600M with its original mesh strap near Liege in Belgium and I was curious to whom it belonged 2 in the first place. ( first owner's name was engraved on the back ALAIN RODRIQUE ) I Googled his name and found him on facebook.
I was totaly blown away with this man's deep diving carreer.
DEMINEUR NAVAL BELGE ( belgian navy demining service from 1976 - 1979
    COMEX DEEPSEA DIVER 1979 - 1995
I am very proud to have spoken to this gentleman in person and very honoured to know about him.
This watch has been on his wrist for countless journeys ... if only the ploprof could tell us everything it saw.

Offcourse this watch is not a comex prototype but simply a heavilly used toolwatch and worn by a senior comex diver. And for me thats a plus every day off the week a small piece off deap dive history on the wrist. Just wanted to share that with all the forum members.

This is my first post and I hope some off the readers can give me some extra information about this watch and I hope this wasn't a boring 1st post.
    Regards Isi from Belgium. 20190606_221858.jpg 20190606_221518.jpg 20190625_230716.jpg IMG-20190606-WA0034.jpg IMG-20190601-WA0020.jpg 20190605_184651.jpg 20190605_184628.jpg 20190704_203357.jpg IMG-20190601-WA0021.jpg 20190703_110938.jpg 20190622_194850.jpg 20190606_221627.jpg 20190607_113857.jpg 20190606_221656.jpg 20190606_221610.jpg

Great first post and welcome to the forum!
The story is always a huge part of the fun.
I assume you didn't receive the watch from him? Was he surprised to see it?
I'm surprised he gave it up.
A provenance letter with a little of the story, signed by him, will establish that watches history and his accomplishments for generations of admirers' to come.

There are many diver fans and shark mesh fans here, me included.

(p.s. While you are googling.....check out what happens to watch movements handled with bare hands, please have it serviced immediately!)

I have a meeting soon with Alain Rodrique himself
I will ask for a signed letter and maybe some old pics and goodies from the companies he worked for. Regards Isi

Are you prepared with a response if he asks to buy it back?

    Nice story, thanks for sharing!

Anyone else cringe seeing that movement being molested?

Very nice story and a great post.

Yeah, finger grease and movements don't mix well. I cringed at that too. I suspect that a service is due anyway, is it not?

It is hard to see the serial number, but at 33,102,xxx would put it around 1978 and it looks very original, apart from the date wheel!

Not a pretty watch but that is a lot of provenance for the money!
