image.jpg Ran across this one today on an older gentleman.

Not in the best shape, but sometimes it's nice to see these just get beat up and keep on keepin' on!

Either way it looks very smart. Here's my more modest one.

Looking good! The Mark II gold edition is gold plated. I am a great fan of the Mark II watch and I am starting to appreciate the gold edition. One of the selling features for me would be the applied Omega logo lacking on the other Mark II editions. There is one for sale on eBay in very nice condition, I am considering bidding on: http://www.ebay.nl/itm/311376249754?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

I've been umm-ing and ahh-ing about getting a MkII racing. Is the original version thinner than the re-edition, or about the same? Feel free to enable me.....

It's about the same. Cases feel very close in size. Mark ii was one of the first I wanted. Reissue was a grail for me. I decided to go for the original instead and very happy I did - even though mine is restored and not original. It gets comments and appreciation.

    Edit, ooops, another pic!

I have a Mark ii (all original, however I do not have the original bracelet) that was serviced 5 years ago. The other day I dropped it, cracking the crystal and dislodging the minute hand and one of the chronometer hands. I've been quoted at $300+ crystal to completely overhaul the watch including these little repairs(I can give you a site that sells the crystals for ~$50). If anyone wants to save themselves some money and get the watch serviced by their own watchmaker, fire me off an offer.... hint: $1700 isnt going to get it, and I don't expect to get $2100.

There are quite some available I must say. Keep an eye out on eBay. I see a lot of them being auctioned. Some are bad, some are good, and there is a lot of difference between pricing. But my guess is for €1500/$1650 you will be able to find yourself a fine Mark II racing dial edition. And even less for the 'regular' black one.
