Priceless because of the preceding sentence in your post:

    Heirlooms are the best.

In current condition, I'd say gold melt value plus $100 to $200 for the movement, if running.

These are not popular models right now.

    Sorry for your loss,

The condition of the dial is better than yours although I cannot say for sure if it is refinished. It is listed for $1600 but it is not sold at that price. Like Gator says, not a popular model so probably melt value of case and bracelet plus price of movement.

The price given was for the movmet/dial only. The case and the bracelet are worth at least what the gold is worth. If the bracelet is 18k the case and bracelet may weigh between 30+ DWT. At today's prices 30 DWT of 18k gold is worth $1,400. It might be more or less gold than that.

That is the answer i was hoping for. So you are saying the dial alone is worth $1,000 in this condition?

I think you are missing the point that people are trying to make. The dial (watch face) is worth nothing. The movement of the watch (the mechanical bits) are worth $100 to $200 (maximum) for parts - it is a fairly common movement and most parts are still available new. The value is in the gold content of the case and bracelet, if the bracelet is 18 kt gold.

I didn't realize that the band was also 18K gold, or I would have mentioned it.

Sorry to disagree with you gatorcpa, but as per my recent post, this model is often (incorrectly) called a Respirator and there is quite a bit action on them.
First of all, it's an 18K case and strap. By the way, that eBay listing (cro23) is from a fantasist, the price is way too high and the dial is appalling. Disgusting, badly refinished by an unskilled and blind amateur. I'd be surprised if he gets $800 for it, myself.
So cro23, you could could do pretty well on it, but on eBay, you'd have to sell it as is, I reckon, as the mechanical condition and dial mean that someone will have to do some work on it. And you don't sound as though you're in the watch business to being with. In an ideal world, it should equal the value of the gold as scrap, but you'd have to know how to sell it properly and where, and that's a bit more complicated.
Sorry your grandpa was a tool, and best of luck with it.
