I didn't want to hijack another thread, but looking at some of those vintage fakes, it got me thinking.

How old are the oldest fake watches?
I don't know why, but I presumed faking watches was a recent thing, last 10 or possibly 20 years.

 

Napoleon, like anyone can even know that.

 

I'm sure since watches were made and sold, fakes were around. Fakes from the 1880's are well documented...this is when the Swiss made fakes of American pocket watches...
