Hi Gang, These watches are for sale. Decent cases, although a bit polished, dials fine as far as I can tell (like to be corrected over here if applicable....) and the cal's 344 in very decent shape. Lume seems OK, hands a bit worn, but allright... No one seems to bite for approx EUR 1100 in total. ???? What am I missing? Cheers W
As I see it, although a lot of people would love to have one of these, either as an "only" vintage watch (we all know that there will be more...) or as a part of a collection, very few would actively seek to add two almost identical watches to a collection - especially as they aren rare or even uncommon. No idea why they were put up for sale as one lot.
Thanks! Was wondering the same thing too.... They make fine 'couple' watches, if one doesn't have wedding rings Dials OK? Thanks, cheers W
Looks pretty good - but one would need to check out that the hands one the first one have degraded (turned black) radium, and not inlays that were Black to begin with, which it could well look like.
The third one, photographed from an oblique angle from the 3:00 side of the dial, shows a huge gap between the dial and reflector ring on the 9:00 side. Bet it's loose in the case, and likely doesn't wind because of it.
Might that be repaired, I guess? Put it in properly..... Or is it a tell-tale sign that a lot more is going on? The cal's look very decent....
Dials in this ref had Omega logos with rounded edges. The first watch in your pics has sharp edges which is very special for that era.
So, we have a couple of 50's watches. Both 344, both 2766. First one has some kind of replacement dial with presumably later hands, the 2nd one has some issue with the cal and dial not rightly placed in the case. What do we have then? Some nice cal's 344 and some decent cases. Mmmmmm......
Looking and searching, also in AJTT, seems that the early 50's was a transition period for the 'Omega' logo on the dials....
