Ok to use this strap?

I usually purchase straps that cost around $25- 40 and I feel spending more is just a waste, though there are plenty that disagree with me. I purchase brands like Hirsch, DiModel, Fluco, etc. I also use high quality spring bars which are stupid expensive, but they are sturdy with thick shoulders.

I recently replaced my six year old Hirsch strap which was a $40 dollar purchase and did not see that it had the quick release spring bars. They are crazy short and thin and I am surprised a better brand (IMHO) like Hirsch would use such crappy spring bars. I am worried that if the watch catches on something that the spring bar will come loose and will go flying. I've already opened the item and didn't notice until after. The description of the item does not say it has these, but you can see it in the pictures. Do you guys think this is safe to use? I suppose I can also remove the quick release bar with a little surgery and put in the better one. Here is a photo of the difference. Here is an image where you can see the difference.

I've also added an image of the watch. It does have an Incabloc shock setting, but these older Omegas will often break or bend the balance pivot when dropped.

Hirsch is my go to brand for quality/not too expensive bands for my dress watches. In my experience the quick release bars they use have less play (read: longer), than the traditional ones they used to use. I think you’ll be totally fine on that SM provided the strap is 18mm. I have several Osiris with quick release bars on similar Omegas.

If you do end up swapping out the bar, do know that no “surgery” is required. Simply pull the handle as far back as it goes, remove the bar from the shorter end of the hole, then slide the rest of the bar out from there.

Have had many straps with quick release bars and have never had one fail or accidentally open. I think you are worrying about a non-issue.

I have the same experience so can only agree with this. I have half a dozen Hirsch straps with these spring bars and never an issue. I read on the WatchObsession website that Hirsch supplies most of their straps now with this kind of spring bars fitted.👍 No need to worry.
