I have read that this brand was acquired by Longines before going out of business.....this looks interesting but info regarding prices seems to be hard to find. http://m.ebay.com/itm/NOS-NEW-SWISS...ATCH-1960S-WITH-DATE-/401053841931?nav=SEARCHPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Any comments? Thanks!
Record used to be a less-expensive sub-brand of Longines (acquired by them) that didn't make it very far. This watch is very beautiful indeed, but way overpriced...
Record made some very nice watches well before they were acquired by Longines. Do a search for "Datofix". Here's an example from my collection:
Beautiful watches. Do they have collectible/selling value just out of curiosity ? Are they expensive to get ?
Thanks, and you have an excellent eye. I haven't seen more finely executed lugs on any PPs or V&Cs, and they are a big part of why I was drawn to the watch initially.
Depends on the model. The chronographs and Datofix models aren't cheap, but the simpler ones can be bargains. The one that I showed must have been a very low production model, so you aren't likely to find one. However, they made a "DeLuxe" model that show up here and there, and they can also be very nice.
A similar one with both signatures: http://ebay.eu/216u5ut in Germany NOT so sought after... rgds - h.u.
Well maybe not very expensiv, but I have got two beautiful chronographs from around 1940 and 1970. The 1940/50 chronograph has a beautiful dial and nice finished movement. The colourful 1970 with a Valjoux 726 movement gets a lot of wristtime after I found an original Record bracelet. The price range for Record watches is wide. I remember that last year at Philipps or Sothebys they sold a rare 1940-1950 Record rattrapante chrongraph for around 14.000 $/€.
20 (ore more) years ago I had a Record steel-chrono too and thought it was a fine "NOS" watch (original caseback not on the pics). Then i became aware, that it was just an assembled one and didn´t wanted to keep it for longer. I think it´s more a trade mark than a real watch company (like Longines or Omega), not bad, but not really collectible. As usual with some exceptions, as the rattrapante, but often with chrome or gold plated cases and "frugal" movements. rgds - h.u.
Foumd that beauty some times ago Has a beautiful inhouse automatic movement. You will find more information here
Just another one, this time a Datofix moonphase watch. I guess it is one of my favorite brands. I just love the design, movement and quality of this underr brand
...correct, that´s " I think it´s more a trade mark than a real watch company" rubbish. Surely Record is a "real" watch company. Just a little less high grade than Longines or Omega. rgds - h.u.
