0D27864B-CE1B-481D-97A4-12E8C27AFBB6.jpeg How do we wind these beasts? I can’t get a ::censored:: grip
I have read/searched various posts on the decagonal crowns on these Connie’s.
I think mine is original but it just does not have enough
height to wind it and I have small hands
I can’t be alone and what have other folks done ?
My 2852-11 crown is a good height and easy to grip to wind.
    Thanks

Find a rubber tube with a diameter close to the crown:

I only use my crown for setting the time; I let the rotor do the winding.

Give it a few shakes and pop it on your wrist! I find that is usually enough.

    This.

And you don’t know your even born until you’ve tried winding the hidden crowns on the .004/.010s

Its not the size that matters, its how you wind it.

I just put a functional crown on (matching Omega of course) and tucked the original away in the box. 14381z.jpg

Crown winder is the best solution - you can often pick them up cheap on-line used.

As for "giving it a couple shakes and wear it" well these are actually meant to be wound by the crown before putting the watch on, in particular if you are interested in any sort of accuracy...

    Cheers, Al

    Hi Al,

honestly never even heard of such a thing but, out of interest, I looked them up. I can see they vary from something like £2 to 25 but all seem to have metal jaws. That'd just scare the whatsit out of me for fear of marking up a crown. From your expereince, are there any that you would recommend with a rubber insert or something similar?

    Thanks

From my experience the metal style don't cause any marks - I use these all the time for watches with small crowns and there's no marking going on...

I've got a couple of these (different ranges of crown size). To avoid any chance of damage, particularly to the case rather than the crown, I always put a plastic bag over the crown.and the winder over that. Never had any damage.
Omega aren't the only culprits - have a vintage automatic IWC that is impossible to move at all with just your fingers, and a lot of vintage dress watches have crowns seemingly designed for elegance rather than function.....

I would be happy with that small crown cause it's original. ;)

I like to wind a few turns before putting it on my wrist. There are some days where I am very active, and others where I am sedentary. This sometimes affects the accuracy and will even wind down. I am fascinated by the 7s26, and the inability to wind it by the crown is the only reason which prevents me from purchasing it.
