Way too many pretty pictures and new reference numbers to google to be of any good to my time or wallet! I have AJTT now and already have an avatar and message. All I have to do now is post a picture in the men and woman behind the watches thread and I'm in the club. Or am I missing something?
Thank you. I just need some reassurance that I will be able to retire comfortably one day despite slipping further down this rabbit hole. Suppose there are no promises though, right?
And I got my first dibs' now. This OmegaForums thing is super easy! I just need 200 posts so that I can check selling off my list.
That book saved me thousands of dollars over the years. Hell, it saved me thousands on just one watch. Without AJTT I would have bought a franken 18k Seamaster chronograph. Using AJTT, I saw that the watch I was eying was a case reference for an 861 with a 321 inside. Luckily, I passed and found a correct 18k 321 a couple weeks later. A couple other "textbook" vintage solid gold Omegas shown with their AJTT entry:
another amateur tip: It's so much safer to shop on here until you are less of an amateur. I'm about 6 months into this new hobby/obsession. I have 3 watches and just closed the deal on the fourth about 20 minutes ago with another OF member. It helps to be an amateur on this forum though. Who knows what would have happened if not for these guys/gals and this forum! 2 of the 4 are Omegas from other forum members.
Simplify: hobsession. It kinda rolls off your tongue nicer anyway, and that word has been in use here for a while.
lol, I like the new word. You know, that's one of the other great things about this forum. It really makes me laugh. That's the second time today. The first time (today) was the thread on the He release valve. I started laughing again just typing this...
We're whacked. Anyone who delves this deeply into the nuances of 50 year old watches has a screw loose. The nice thing about ΩF is we encourage & embrace quirkiness.
