I have been reading up on Speedmasters and their nuances, but I am a novice I am looking to join the Speedmaster club and buy one that I can afford and wear a lot I have been offered this "custom made" speedie-priced at around $3000 The seller says that it has a reconditioned 861 movement (looks like from 1987), all parts were brand new except for the movement, the watch was built at an Omega Service Center, and has not been recently serviced. It has not been worn much. I know nothing about the band. It is being sold as in the pictures (these are the only ones I have seen)-I have not seen it in person. I know the seller and have bought other watches from him I believe that it is considered a franken, but is it worth considering or should I keep looking for an original and correct model? Any advice or guidance would be appreciated Thanks
Are you chasing a vintage piece that is correct, or a Franken watch? Only you can make that decision.
That's an interesting mixture of design elements. Was he going for the 2915 look or the 3594.50 replica when this was assembled?
This is essentially a 3594.50 with a display back, and it's too expensive by at least half. The last few 3594.50s I've seen for sale have had trouble selling above around US $2200, and that was for original condition with box and papers. These are not worth much, so you'd do better searching eBay and elsewhere.
Thanks for all the responses and advice-I appreciate your time I have told the seller I will pass on the watch So now I am looking for a correct vintage Speedie at a reasonable price, if possible Would prefer one from 1970 or late 1960's Is Ebay the place to look? I'd love to find one on this site and would prefer buying one here
