    Respectable Members

For the love of vintage-watches, I do bid on behalf of friends but with one nasty experience already behind me, I am now more cautious. I make it a point to consult respectable members here for their opinions, before taking the plunge.

Here is lovely watch (though I love one with date), a friend is interested in. I can see its dial is clean and not refinished. However, it is disturbing to note the lumed hour-markers, at 3, 6, 9 and 12, are all off-centre. Is this normal?

    Thank you.

The dial looks original to me. However, you are correct about the lume being off center, especially when you look at the 1,3 and 5 markers. It could be a bad relume job. also the lume material seems to have a sponge like texture I have not seen on other dial.

Definitely your eyes are better than mine.

Probably, it is a bad relume job on an otherwise, lovely watch.

    Thank you.

The lume is consistently off at each marker in the counterclockwise direction by just a smidge. It doesn't match the hands either. I'd say somebody has some sort of die or stencil and misplaced it slightly when reluming this one.

Dial looks good to me. Lume probably original also - have seen this lumen size and pattern including the misalignments in the earlier bog triangle dials. Remember the early thin bezels on the sm300 had numbers and markings that were not perfectly aligned also.

    24719634-17.jpg Gotta disagree here Mike.
The eBay watch is Serial 24724389
    Here is Serial 24719634
The ebay watch has no serifs on
any of the letters or numbers as this one has,
and there are no misalignment's on this dial below
and it is original and untouched. But make up your own
minds. Here is something to compare it to.
Also compare the Swiss Made text position, quality,
    and font

Respectable Member pitpro and also, other respectable members

I appreciate the informed opinions extended me by you (the above example is a beauty) and all respectable members.

Just as well, I brought the listing to the attention of this forum, before bidding on behalf of a friend. Whether the set of off-centre lumed markers is all right or not, I cannot live with it. If it is not OK for me, it means it is not OK also, for my friend.

I have lots to learn from respectable forum members here, before I can go on my own to bid on any Seamaster 300. It is a very difficult subject to master.

    Thank you.
