Hey Guys, Robert-Jan from Fratellowatches.com is arranging a GTG for Omega Speedmaster fans at the ESA’s (European Space Agency) Space Research and Technology Center in Noordwijk, The Netherlands on the 29th of October. In attendance will be RJ and the Fratellowatches team, representatives from Omega, and my own good self as well so it would be brilliant to get to meet some of our European members in person! This is quite possibly one of the best opportunities you can get to hang out with a variety of people that understand the difference between a 145.012 and a 145.022, and that appreciate the significance of a dot over the number 90, along with the opportunity to check out the Noordwijk facility. There's a signup page here on the Fratellowatches website here: http://www.fratellowatches.com/speedy-tuesday-event/ But please reply to this thread as well if you think you can make it! More details will follow in the coming couple of weeks, but consider it safe to assume the recent legalisation of alcohol in the Holland region will be taken advantage of as well into the evening.
Count me in I was just this weekend at the NASA - A Human Adventure exhibition in Utrecht, there were some nice space artefacts on display, my favourite of which were these Cosmonaut Space Snacks.... For when a little peckish, the Caviar And to wash it down, the Vodka of course! Unfortunately it doesn't look like this little guy was issued with a Speedmaster And here my two small apes
Shame it clashes with the last day of a family holiday, otherwise I'd definitely have been there. Maybe next time...
A bit more details!! NASA's former engineer James Ragan is joining us during the event! He's the guy responsible for the tender and test procedures of the chronographs in 1964. So, he's important to us Speedy-fans! Also, the Omega Museum curator will be there to show some very nice museum pieces as well as a watchmaker from Omega to answer all your questions about calibers, repairs, servicing etc. More info and signing up via : http://www.fratellowatches.com/speedy-tuesday-event/
Unfortunately I won't be able to attend. Too far/expensive for just a few hours. Petros, the museum curator is a passionate of watchmaking and has a tremendous knowledge of Omega. Enjoy!
