Draskers
·Hi everyone.
I had my heart set on purchasing the heritage Seamaster 300 with bracelet and blue dial as I love the sandwich effect and lollipop second hand. When I went to take another look at the watch at the boutique, they happened to have a NTTD with mesh bracelet, and after trying on that beauty, it’s now starting to play on my mind as a serious contender. Obviously these are two very different watches aesthetically and the looks side of things is down to personal choice, however any input to the following would be greatly appreciated:
If it helps, this would be a second watch, my other being a Speedmaster 3861 sapphire. 75% of my wardrobe is blue, the remainder being yellow and brown (with the odd bit of red and green) and I tend to be more casual than smart. The watch would be my go-to summer watch, hence going down the Seamaster route - oh, and I love Omega!
Many thanks in advance… here’s what they look like on my wrist:

Obviously these are two very different watches aesthetically and the looks side of things is down to personal choice, however any input to the following would be greatly appreciated:
- Is purchasing a NTTD which has an older and ‘lower spec’ movement compared to the 300 sensible, or is the movement a proven workhorse that shouldn’t factor negatively in my decision-making process?
- Would it be more prudent to purchase the NTTD now whilst I can, as some variant of the Seamaster 300 will always be available to purchase at a later date, whereas the NTTD is a onetime only deal?
- Is the extra cost for the NTTD actually justified, or am I paying a premium for titanium and the Bond link (the latter actually puts me off a little)?
- Are there any other differentiating factors between the two that I haven’t thought about, or any steers on why you would go for one over the other?
