I have the opportunity to purchase this watch, but I'm not sure if it is s true Omega. Never saw a base metal back or the Omega name printed to the movement. Any help will be appreciate. Am told it's a mid-40's.

Fake, give away is the back case inscription on the outside of the case
Not to mention the weird Omega symbol on the dial. Very common fake from the 60-70s

I too had an issue with the symbol on the face. Seems the dealer is not that knowledgeable. Thanks very much

It is good that you asked prior to pulling the trigger! Creating such a horrible fake should be a capital offence!

You can tell it's fake from the movement, let alone the dial. Looks like it should be on worst redials

Ahh the days when fakes had semi decent AS movements, I wager that’s why so many survivors are out there. It’s actually not a badly made watch.

The dealer isnt naive, he is criminal. Much more serious than the fake Omega markings is the fact it is marked as gold (it’s obviously plated) meaning it is designed to deceive and passing off items with fake hallmarks can get you into very hot water in many jurisdictions. I wouldn’t trust him at all if he is selling crap like that and claiming ignorance.
