My Speedisease started with a birth year watch...

    2C21B224-9ED3-4CB6-9EA8-DC9838933CAD.jpeg

... and since I am not wearing it enough (maybe too young or too often underdressed for a golden watch :D) I’ve been looking for a regular Speedmaster Professional from the same year.

Today I can officially say that the hunt is over with The One :

    00772CD8-CFC3-4C06-9AF4-09B8A6FCCA9D.jpeg 393609FD-D1DB-46E1-B855-89F27E2C7398.jpeg 1A7D7311-1A57-42EF-9E32-DAFEF1BEF09B.jpeg

It’s been sleeping in a stock over the last 32 Years. Unsold. Unworn. Unopened. Virgin...

    92225988-DF07-468C-B013-96495CA14B6C.jpeg

The case is untouched, no single trace of wear and the factory blue coating is still present on the polished parts.

The tritium on the hands and dial has a lovely yellow color, is absolutely perfect and glows like on day one.

Now this is a truly new old stock example and I am delighted to say : there are still such examples somewhere in the wild ! And a collector must be a patient wolf

Now I have another trouble : I can’t imagine wearing this one. No. Impossible... ::facepalm1:: So the hunt for a nice regular birth year Speedmaster is not yet over :D

As I was reading through your post this exact thought popped into my head. Great score, but having the ability to keep it in fully brand new condition will likely pay off in spades in another couple of decades.

Unfortunately, more like 15% of the original luminosity.

Safe queen or not, the half-life of the Tritium remains the same :)

It's official: I live in the wrong country to ever think I could find something like this lurking in the back storeroom of a watchmaker's shop. A great find @kov, and a lovely piece (as it should be, since it's actually new)!

Somebody I have already bought stuff from in the past found it and decided to immediately flip it - nothing I can elaborate on - simply happy to be the one who could snap it as soon as it went up for sale ;)

Such an incredible find...I'm wondering, how come they have never sold it??? It is not $5 timex , that could be forgotten in the stock room.
Anyways, congratulations on the great pick mate.

But does it still auto-glow* a wee bit?

    Stunning watch by the way!

*Glow without the photolumiscent paint being exited by a light source in any way.
