I'm trying to consolidate my small personal collection and doing so, I see that I am more and more interested in watches that were not for sale, issued, awarded, given for advertising... In this thread I'll post what I have or come across, but feel free to do the same! The more the merrier.

A few classic military issue for the beginning:

A well known Lemania "Majetek", a PR516 Pakistan Air Force (I had two of them, this one I sold) and a 1952 USSR airforce Shturmanskie.

Casebacks of the Majetek and the Tissot:

    Very nice watches!

When I first saw the thread title my cynical side thought you were trying to sell a beautiful watch by saying it was not for sale :D

As an alternative to military issued watches. One issued by the British Broadcasting Corporation.

I think we'll see mostly military issues in this thread like mine, but who knows!

...and my Lemania Tg195 issued to a member of the Swedish artillery in my birth year:

    I’ll play :)

Here’s a very early issued Junghans, the 88/0110, which is the uncommon predecessor to the already uncommon 88/0111. Dial may or may not be original (although at least it is period correct), and it may be missing a bezel although another bezel-less example is known. Lots of questions but not all the answers.

Here is an Eterna likely given as a keepsake/memento of Expo67; may even have been on the wrist of a higher ranking official of one of the pavilions.

    That's an official Bundeswehr Luftwaffe Chronograph J 88 / 0110 - unfortunately with a missing brezel.
The number 6645-12-120-9351 on the back is called Versorgungsnummer (= stock number / order number).

There’s no conclusive verdict on the bezel. Another one is known with no bezel, and both don’t have any lip on the case for a bezel retention clip. It’s been discussed on vintage-time.de

As far as I know there were two versions. One with a ribbed / fluted brezel and one with a dodecagonal brezel.

Nice uncommon watches as expected, thanks for playing! We can learn a thing or two browsing all this.

A chunky steel cased East German GUB Spezimatic and its bracelet...

    with a twist:

    DSC_6653.jpeg

Our German friends know what it means, it translates roughly as "official/honorary gift from the Central Committee of the SED (East German Socialist party)".

May I ask what was the purpose of these watches? Timing broadcasts?

If anyone is interested there are a number of Swiss ladies size military issue watches available on Ebay now. There are several different makes and years , all looking much alike . I suppose made to a general utilitarian pattern. Some at least have sub-second dials. Not sure if all do.

A recent (barn)find, needs probably a new setting lever spring:

Love the dial and the case, this one is probably a keeper.

This one found its way to my wrist via my wife's grandfather. He worked at a Winterthur (Switzerland) factory, and received this watch upon his retirement. A true Swiss watch for retirement!
