I have been looking at the 2998-3 posted on Chrono 24. Whoever took the lapping wheel to this watch seems to have removed its soul along with the metal. The side view where a brand new, but 'original to period' crown has been plonked over the small patch of untouched but pitted casing seems to highlight for me what is a wholly insensitive approach to restoration; and are those contact points above the pushers where the wheel hit the case rim. Yes, it's 55 years old and it's got a lollipop but is there any character.
But it's got a lolli! It may look better in hand, but the photos certainly aren't helping. They seem very sterile.
Could the earlier dial possibly be correct for a 2998-3? Asymmetrical bridge and adjustment index point to a later movement. It's hard to read the serial but I'd guess that bridge is a replacement or doctored.
