    Hi everyone....

I bough this watch years ago. The case ref is 2179 , a previous owner had a display back made for it. Somehow a 30T2Rg movement and dial was loaded in to this case.... The combination is great to say the lest .... This watch did not leave the factory this way but 50 plus years later its is still keeping time and survived ! I am assuming the original case for the Rg movement was yellow gold and was scrapped.

Franken or not, it's a great looking watch, Bill. And as the original case almost certainly got melted, that RG movement needed rescuing ;)

Nice dial patina and good to see the important pieces conserved! Perhaps we should do a "show us your much loved franken watch" thread?

I happen to love Franken watches as well....

The dial is great , the movement is killer and a CK 2179 Omega case is one of my favorites !

I have another Rg in a pocketwatch case !! see my avitar ! for a movement shot!

    Also very cool....

In these cases a Franken case is much better than no case!

    I have a decent Frankenstellation:

Paid very little for this, it was my first vintage Constellation. Movement is a cal. 501. Case ref. 2852-5. I did a lot of research on similar watches and figured out that the case is likely original to the movement and that started out as a 19 jewel chronometer movement. Someone replaced the rotor assembly with the correct part from a later 20 jewel cal. 501. I later replaced the crown with a proper 10-sider.

Pretty decent redial also. It has a gold starburst pattern, which is not correct for this vintage, but looks nice anyway.

    Take care,
