This is something new to me. NOS 300's put together from genuine omega spares apparently in Australia. One is for sale from Oakleigh watches http://oakleighwatches.co.uk/Collection/omega-seamaster-300/#.U7G2qJ1Bv84eigh
Commonly referred to as "Watchco" SM 300s, because the company that put many of these together was Watchco out of Australia. Basically all new genuine Omega replacement parts with a vintage Omega movement.
Thanks XJR that was a quick response. As I said it's new to me. Not sure what to think of it. I wouldn't go for it as I like the idea that a vintage sports watch has had some kind of a life and survived before I get my hands on it. But I can see the appeal.
Here you have an old thread about Watchco SM 300: http://omegaforums.net/threads/watchco-seamaster-300.166/
this is one of a select few watches which satisfies the battle hardened collector as well as the total noob. i hate this term of art but i'll use it anyway: it ticks all the right boxes.
I also bought a SM300 directly from WatchCo Australia earlier this year and I absolutely love it As have been said by others, it is the best from both worlds. Best money I have ever spend and real pleasure to deal with WatchCo.
Togri that's interesting info. I notice that the Oakleigh watches is retailing at £1950 while the Watchco site I found sells them for Aud3500 which translates to £1924. So Oakleigh don't seem to be making much of a profit.
That IS interesting info since I paid far less buying it directly from WatchCo My advice would be, if you want a SM300 (and I can only recommend it) then contact WatchCo directly and ask if they can make one for you. NB: I only bought the watch, no bracelet, and put it on a nice shell cordovan strap, so naturally the price was a bit lower but I reckon you can still get it for less money directly from WatchCo AND you are sure that the watch is perfect condition and perfectly water sealed.
Three months ago, a member from here bought a non date SM300 with bracelet directly from Marcus (WatchCo). I asked him the price by PM, and he told me it was AUD2400
AUD2400 might have been the price back then. I just got a quote from Marcus for a mate of mine, cost today would be AUD3025 (inc GST) So the OPs watch, without a bracelet is GBP1950 (AUD3567)
I paid US$ 2500 for the watch head only so that sounds about right and that included shipping and any fees from paypal, so yes... Contact WatchCo if you are game
And in case you haven't read the great review of the watch by dsio: http://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-seamaster-300-review.221/ Once I read the review there was no doubt in my mind that I was going to buy that watch
And just a couple of quick shots, since you can never have to many of this awesome watch - not as beautiful a setting as the one above I'm afraid, since I'm at the office
