On May 24th there is an Omega Event at their Boutique at The Short Hills Mall. There will be another one, even bigger, on July 20th. I plan to attend both. Details about time and agenda to follow.
The event on May 24th is for the Speedmaster's 60th Anniversary and similar events are being held at Omega Boutiques all over the country. Start time is 7:00PM. Edit: It may be prudent to RSVP to the boutique. The main number for the Short Hills store is (973) 379-6044.
Me neither. Usually some food and drinks. A guest speaker is common at the major ones, but I doubt this event will qualify as big enough for that. The July 20th event at Short Hills will feature the NASA guy that certified Speedmasters for space missions though. Naturally they will have the latest Speedmaster watches to see and maybe try on. There could be give-aways too but you can never count on that.
Neither have I, might be a fun setting to meet people/socialize on a random Wednesday evening though.
I received an invitation to the one in Orlando, FL. They are celebrating the Iconic Speedmaster Collection and the 60th anniversary. Gonna be catered and RSVP required! This will be my first time as well.
No RSVP on this invite. I've seen pictures of other invites for this event that had an RSVP number. Must be boutique by boutique, depending on foot traffic. The Short Hills Omega Boutique is relatively small and sees light traffic. I was invited orally by the Head Watchmaker/Salesman there. They might not even send out physical invites for the event at Short Hills.
I guess they are all sending out invites, which is cool. I got mine today via email. And there is indeed a RSVP request, via phone or email. I'm IN!! I guess the previously posted invite had the bottom cut off in the picture, eliminating the RSVP.
It was a great event, and Victor was a wealth of knowledge. Really enjoyed myself, had some great hors d'oeuvres, and met some interesting folks. That was me in the purple checked shirt.
It's the celebration of the moon landing, and we will have a guest speaker from NASA. Plus the rep that invited me to this recent event said it would be a more grandiose event.
I'd be shocked if there was not more/better swag in July. Maybe even a raffle or door prize for a couple lucky attendees. I wasn't expecting anything at last night's event so the poster was a very pleasant surprise.
My fellow watch enthusiasts, I called the Short Hills boutique and it looks like the July 20 event has been CANCELLED.
Oh no! I was looking forward to that one. It promised to be bigger than the May event, and May was terrific. Bummer.
