    Hi All,

I have become interested in getting my hands on a vintage Speedmaster, but I am having a hard time finding helpful organized info. Is there someplace I can go for a list of all past models/variations/specs/etc.? It looks like there is plenty of info on this forum regarding purchase advice, but I think I need to start gathering some background first. Any help you can provide would be most appreciated.

    TIA,

    Lex

Here is probably the best repository on the web for the Speedmaster and all its many variants:

    http://www.chronomaddox.com/

Chuck Maddox has been gone over 4 years now, but it's great that a few dedicated collectors have kept this site alive as a tribute to his memory.

    Hope this helps,

What model vaguely are you after? Vintage wise the two that people want most are the Cal 321, or the Cal 861 '69

From my very early research, I am looking for a 321, although I did see a ridiculously pricey '75 Soyuz on e-bay that I liked...

The Soyuz LE's are overpriced IMO, the best LE with a historical tie-in is probably the snoopy

I've decided to hunt down a birth year speedy (1981). I'm not going to be able to afford a '69 or 321, so I figure birth year is something worth hunting for. It also makes of more if a challenge/long term project. I know someone who spent 6 yrs looking for a birth year speedy.

1981 is also significant in that it was the year the Speedmaster Pro first traveled on the Space Shuttle aboard STS-1 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STS-1

Although not quite so difficult if your birth year is 1967 :)

Yeah, '75 is my birth year, so a Soyuz would be nice. But I have noticed a relatively large number of '67 321s for sale. Was there a particularly large production run that year?

"Post Reply" is working slow today. Did you hit it more than once?
