Hi everyone, I am Scott, I am a noob to Omega collecting. I found this forum (sadly) after my first Omega purchase. I have some questions and appreciate any help and/or information you can offer.

I believe this is an Omega 1022 (movement or calibre, not sure of which is more correct to use) circa 1972 Seamaster Cosmic Genève. I asked the seller and he/she said it was all original except for dial. I thought (as with my Rolexes) that a new dial was OK, maybe even an upgrade. I understand now why that is not necessarily true for vintage watches after spending hours in the threads yesterday trying to do the research I should have done before this purchase.

I own this watch, paid $450 including shipping, and could return it at this point - but I do like it?

So first question, is this watch what I think it is (that is, are the seller's statement accurate)?
“Vintage Omega Watch, serviced. MODEL NAME: Geneve, MOVEMENT TYPE: Automatic 23 Jewels (Cal.1022), repainted dial, new leather band - rest of watch is original."

Second question, does Omega make day/dates (a different color) or does this indicate the original dial was gold or is this a "frankenwatch" as you guys so affectionately have dubbed pieced together Omega parts?

Lastly, I live in Kansas City area, does anyone know of KC area shop/person that services Omega watches in my area OR do you have a suggestion by mail? I hope this is not my last Omega purchase, so I would like to find someone I can use for my other Omega purchases.

I hope the attached pictures are sufficient to answer the above, if not, I can add pics.

Thanks again...for your help with my first Omega purchase and for an interesting and informative forum!, Scott

First post with a avatar, shows his done some of his own research and a watch in great condition.

Think you have done well. Not sure about the date colour but don’t think that watch has been played with.

Can you show more natural (that is, less filtered) photos of the dial? Date discs color doesn't match with dial, should be like this:

Rochete, thanks for the reply and picture. I believe that is what my original dial color was? and it was repainted white? I am not sure why the seller did not choose to go with the same color (yours is amazing looking). I have doubts that Omega would mix white and gold (day/date dials), right?

Omega did not mix that way. Your dial is either repainted, as seller states, or replaced. Or, dial might be original but date discs replaced, this is much less probable.
