After a conversation with @STANDY, I'm thinking about buying something brand new and "creating my own vintage" by keeping it Forevvvaaaaaa!

A couple of the Nnomos models appeal, the Club, and the Ahoi... just wondering if anyone has had either long term... and thoughts/feedback?

I found a review here of the 36mm Club Dunkel, which they've discontinued... https://omegaforums.net/threads/a-month-on-the-wrist-nomos-club-dunkel-36mm.27010/

This looks awesome... not as keen on the white face without any lume.

The Ahoi seems to be a little more hardy with that 200m depth rating, screw down crown etc... but at nearly £3k

    https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/h...new-dive-watch-from-germany-live-pics-pricing

Anyone able to shed any light... or offer alternative things I should be looking at?

    Cheers

    Chris

Just don't see it as Lizard material. Very nice watches though.

See you as more of a GO lizard.

    GO Lizard? ;)

I was speaking with one of the OB's in London today... they're pretty sure that there are a few Alaska projects left in the network... always liked those...

When ever I see the Nomos I love it, and think about getting one. When I think about getting one, I seriously consider a Junghans instead.

If you're talking about a forever watch, then that implies you'll want it for a variety of wearing occasions. Plus it needs to fit your personality.
At least thatt was part of my thinking when I bought my AT, which I will pass down to my son
I like the Ahoi, but will you in 20 years?

20 Minutes on and I'm having second thoughts!

The Speedmaster HB-SIA is definitely more me...

It is more your style. You like chunky and a bit complicated it seems. Plus that has an interesting angle to go with it.
    Go for it

Yup this is exactly my feelings on the Nomos... The Max Bill seems more timeless to me while being similar to the Nomos.

The clear out continues... a few dealers have new stock at £4100... which is £2500 less than the OB wanted.

I get the impression that these are a bit too specialist for them to move at the speed they would like to

And I vote for the Hb-SIA. Seems to fit in with your Marks and SM.

what is your current formal watch? - do you have a good answer to this Q?

I have a Nomos Orion now, since i had no good answer to this Q. But i'd go classic (orion/tangente/ludw.) with the N. (not ahoi/club...those are like the cellinis for Rlx ... those are the models that do not represent the core value of the brand!)
    :whistling:

speaking of which: qual. of the N. is easy on par with Rolex/recent Omegas. 100 percent faultless, even under the loupe!

My personal rule: if i wear cufflinks, out comes the N. guaranteed smile every time i check the time @ the office...
id also go preowned... those tend to be pamped watches!
    good luck

    Wouldn't consider vintage?

I'd like to find an Omega jumbo version of this.. does that qualify as a WTB? PM if you got one!

Interesting that you seem drawn to the clean look of Nomos since it is so different from the watches you usually post.
My personal taste the speedy you linked just looks impossible to read for my 50 year old eyes.
FWIW atop my wish list is the Grand Seiko but I've been lead to believe Seikos can be difficult to obtain in the UK.
Just to throw out an idea, this may be a bit down market from what you are looking for but the Tissot T Complication Chronometer seems to be a nice mix of size and classic styling. http://smile.amazon.com/Tissot-T070...241&sr=1-22&nodeID=7141123011&keywords=Tissot

I wear jeans and a shirt 99% of the time...

But have worn all three of these with a suit:

I think I've gone off owning a Nomos. It's like Saab... I like the idea, but in practice...

I like the idea of buying one watch this year that's mine from new...

But a Constellation Super Flat would be my vintage choice at the moment...

Yeah... The Internet is a dangerous place!

Youre very right about the HB-SIA... And that could be why there are so many floating about in dealers with strong discounts.

It's a watch with a cool tie in, a nice movement, and some interesting materials - but it's not very clear to read... And I am a fan of functionality.

Grand Seikos in the UK... I don't think I've ever seen one at a dealer... We get a ton of the sub £150 stuff.

And Tissot... May just be the way they market in the UK, but they feel like a cheap catalogue watch.

The observations of you guys are pretty spot on... I think I'll make a couple of calls (as suggested by pm, thanks chaps)... And see what's stashed where. :)
