Has anyone seen this NO Nasa backcase with 74 engravings inside?
watch has nice stepped dial, 2842xx movement and 145.022-74 backcase.
I assume backcase has been changed.
but I havent seen 74 back case with no nasa !

Very strange indeed. Movement number is way too early for a 74. The NoNasa 71's were not at the end of the 71 production cycle so it doesn't make sense that there were any extra casebacks to be used in a 74. Is it possible that the Nasa inscription was lathed off?

Worse case scenario is that @Spacefruit needs to up his game to have a complete Moonwatch collection :D

I've heard that about watchmakers who do multiple simultaneous Speedy revisions and then get the casebooks mixed up....Should be 69-70 I think..

Not a matter of a mixup. This is the first instance, I think, of a 74 NoNasa caseback existing.

Edit: According to MWO, the No Nasa caseback did not reappear until the 1985 First Speedymoon, ref 345.0809.

Is it possible this is a leftover no-NASA case back that was later stamped -74?

MWO website tables say this was made in 1969 to 1971; probably June 1970. Stepped dial would be appropriate, I think. The-71's were made several years so this might be a parts bin watch with low s/n movement and case that was put together at s later date?

I saw this eBay offering and assumed it had spent some time on a lathe, but with a second -74 case back the plot thickens a little.
Either way the op watch has a step dial and 28........ movement so likely left the factory with a -69 case back. Get an extract from Omega would be my advice.

I am sure that watch was put together, but I was surprised that no one here and MWO do not say anything about this type of backcase.
Does anyone else has this reference with this kind of backcase?

So what’s the verdict on -74 NoNasa? Could it be real or someone carefully polished the inscription off?

I'm voting for some lathe work (on both) at some point and I don't think two -74 case backs make a series - just like one (two in this case) swallows don't make a summer. Curious to see if this thread leads to a consensus...

I agree, we would need to see quite a few more original examples turn up.
