    Hi everyone,

Just looking for some advice on a potential purchase.

I couldn't find many other examples online, and those that I could find were priced somewhat exorbitantly.

Looks to be in ok condition, running but unserviced and chrono doesn't work as according to the seller

What do you reckon, and what would be a fair price?

    Thanks!
    Ed

There are a couple of examples on my Nivada site: https://nivadanirvana.blogspot.com/ You'll see both are indicated as being no more than £1,000. What your pics show is a really nice watch is not very nice condition. If I saw that here in the UK I wouldn't want to pay much more than £350. Good luck - if you go for it I hope you'll be happy.

The chrono hand is in different positions in the two photos. Maybe it does work a little. Still, the condition is rough, and I definitely wouldn't go above $1000 USD for it. Preferably closer to $500.

Seller was wanting 1600 aud, and at the moment wasn't too willing to negotiate, so havent gone through with a purchase.

It's a cool watch, but would have liked it for less!

Thanks for the help everyone :)

Curious, Ed - did you catch it yesterday when he listed it for $100 in amongst a bunch of other rubbish, or did he contact you direct (I'm assuming you have a WTB up)? When I spoke to him yesterday he said he'd had a jeweller tell him he'd give him a valuation saying it was worth $1500-$2000. Bloody jewellers valuations - they're good for insurance but not for establishing a fair market price.

I spotted in on the add quite early in the morning and had actually already payed for it for 100! Then I guess he caught on to the fact it may be more valuable.

He seemed quite nice about it, and has today refunded my initial purchase - just waiting for it to hit my bank.

Ah, that sucks. Sorry to hear it. I've had that happen to me before.

I bought such a Nivada recently, it was a special deal because the movement and dial was mounted in another 7736 case, and I got the original case and crown of the watch extra. For this occasion I was searching for this watch, there were only few to find and the cheapest was first for 1.5 k euros and after negotiating for 1.3 k Euro....so I think apart from the worse condition of the pictured watch . the price of these watches is higher as mentioned previously in this thread .

It’s hard to price these, but I’m pretty sure he’s never going to get it sold at 1600AUD in that condition. I’d guess that 1600AUD would be pretty toppy even after a clean up and service.

They’re quite cool in their own way though, and the case is certainly a big chunk of stainless. Very very seventies ! I picked up a BWC last year which shares the same case and movement, albeit with straight brushing rather than sunburst like the Nivada.

Yea, I left it open to negotiation, so we'll see how it goes. Might be on the horizon in the near future.

That BWC is pretty cool :)

Well good luck if you get a chance to renegotiate ! The difficult thing with the Nivada is the dial. Personally I find it a bit too discrete for such a ridiculous case, but I’m pretty sure the market disagrees with me. If you want a racing dial chrono your normally looking at big bucks so the Nivada appeals as it has the look but not the price tag. So conceivably he could find a buyer at a strong price, and after all you only need one buyer.
