Looking at the caseback it's clear that it has had the misfortune of being handled by some sloppy watchmakers in the past but I like the fact it hasn't been polished to death.

Note though one important thing - it is a screwback case.
Unfortunately, it is on a bit too tight now but it is an 18k yellow gold case with case reference 2652. The inside is a cal. 352 and as some of you know the cal. 352 connies are among my very favorites. But that's not all. The front picture of the watch completes the story:

So it has some of my favorite features - 18k gold screwback case, the very uncommon cal. 352 and of course the beautiful well preserved black textured dial.

It makes a nice pair to this one which is an 18k YG case also with the cal. 352 but in the earlier snapback case ref. 2648. Notice that the dial in the 2648 while of the same style is about 2mm wider due to the difference in case style. This one also comes with an unmarked 18k gold bracelet which I believe was added at the point of sale as the style is a match for one of the bracelets in Desmond's article on connie bracelets.

Nice snag Mike! I like the 2652 - it appears to have better proportions.

What I find most remarkable is the printing on the waffle surface is among the clearest and crispest I've ever seen, there's some that are so feint or thin that the waffle texture sort of eats them and makes the text unreadable but that looks perfect.

How do you ever find these  Please don't tell me it was on the bay, because I sure didn't see it if it was. :(

Sweet find Mike  Back to the search for me.:)

Both actually came from private contacts who would ever only give them up in trade. In both cases the trades took a long time to evolve. Some of the watches I have took 2 years or longer of convincing for me to obtain them.

Hey Desmond, did you read that? :p

Mike: inquiring minds want to know what kind of watch(es) you had to give up to obtain an all star caliber player like that?

I previously owned several modern watches but have given them up in sale or trade in pursuit of nice vintage omegas. Here are some that I have owned and "given up" for nice vintage omegas. I won't give particulars on the deals involving the 2 ones above but instead will give you an idea of what I've given up in sale or trade. These are some of those watches that are now gone:

Don't think I would have traded that one away, but everybody has their own priorities. Can't blame you for going vintage.

Wow! As you know, I'm not a huge modern watch fan, but that really was an All-Star line up you've traded away. However, you've replaced them with the best of the best.

    Bienne must be jealous,

Don't miss any of those watches. They are not difficult to locate. Some of the vintage omegas though that came are virtually impossible to find.

    Fair enough.

    Very true.

It seems this is the prominent factor in flipping and trading when you get neck deep into vintage.

What made you buy that GP Ferrari :p Most of your moderns are rather cool and unique but that one's sort of the odd one out lol

Not sure - was available years ago at a good price in an unscratched titanium case with carbon fibre dial. Just thought it was a cool combo. Some of these watches I got because the price was good and I thought they would be good trade bait or at least could be sold for a modest profit.

Probably a previous owner trying to do a do-it-yourself battery replacement, you'd be surprised.

Yea, it looks a bit like someone tried to take the caseback off with their car keys
