This has been in the collection for a while, but has sat in the case for far too long and should be on someone else's wrist. Lovely example of a typical 1950s-60s Swiss-made chronograph with a column-wheel movement (Omega 321 is also a column-wheel movement for those newbies among us) and killer original dial. Serviced and comes with a nice alligator strap. Manufacturer: Nicolet Model: Chronograph, dates to 1950s Case: 36 mm wide, steel Movement: Landeron 39 column-wheel chronograph, 17 jewels, manual winding Dial: champagne in colour, blue tachymetre track, red 20 point scale, original blued hand set; may have been relumed (?tritium) Crown: Original, some wear as per pics, not signed Crystal: acrylic, a few scratches that will buff out nicely Lugs: male lugs (require special pins), 18 mm wide Strap: honey brown vintage gator, pin buckle Service: performed by our local watchmaker in 2014 Extras: no box or papers, bought at auction 2013 Price: $750 USD, Shipping outside of North America additional Last photo comes from original auction post 2013
Bump with price reduction $650 US + shipping Received a couple of requests for inner caseback pics: The vibe I am getting from a few PMs is that this watch may be one put together with parts...it does have several parts labelled Helbros, all of which are hand engraved on the case back and the movement. I don't know the history of this piece nor of the Nicolet watch company (not Armand Nicolet...). So it is possible that Helbros took over this company, or maybe marketed pieces under that model name. The attractive part is that this movement is much more uncommon compared to other Landeron movements. I originally bought this from an auction several years ago, and enjoyed it for a few years. But like many of us, times and preferences change, which means this one can look for another wrist. I think it would be a nice piece for someone starting out.
