I’m just astonished at the picture quality. And by picture, I mean it as singular ::screwloose::.

Those hands are so bright . Glad it’s still got the originals, but I would have thought it would sell better in original condition...

Also, why is Sothebys’ site ‘Not Secure’?

Case doesn’t look that sharp to me eyes, could be the pictures. Hands look suspiciously new ? But if it sells close to that price it could be a great pickup for someone willing to gamble on what’s inside!

IMHO if those hands are original, and stayed in the same enclosure with the same conditions for the same period as the dial, for the whole life of the watch up to this point, one would expect them to have aged like the dial in some way (patination of lume, discoloration of paint). They don't....and do hurt the eyes...

Are they saying the replacement parts will come as accessories? From the listing they might be.

Yep, the listing states that it will be sold with the original hands and crystal, and some bits of the original pushers. The mismatch in the photo is quite jarring. They also have a 2998-6 which looks a lot more original.

Their 2998-6 has an extract. Did they kidnap George Clooney or what?

But doesn't the buyer need to pay premiums and other fees?

I've got an extract for my 2998-6 as well. George was very helpful, however scared. [IMG]

That 2998 - 6 is within 73 of mine but I did not get an extract, perhaps George could apply for me :)
