I walked in the store on Newbury and saw this nice Ranchero. It is the first time I've seen one in person. Looks in very good shape. It's a watch I find attractive (more than the Speedmaster). They have it also on ebay.

    No affiliation with the store.

I've done business with Ivana at European Watch. Keep in mind that they're a bricks and mortar retail vintage dealer.
Similar to Paul Duggan in your neighborhood. Meaning: They're pricey but reliable. Good luck, Miki

I think one of our most knowledgeable has spoken. Gemini4 would know! Keep in mind that I wasn't speaking for the watch.

Too bad, such a nice watch. The lume of the hands match that of the dial, at least to my inexperienced eyes. What is the origin of these hands? Omega replacements?

I agree hands are not correct (short) and so is the crown. Not many come up for sale in good condition but I think the price is high even for a retail store.

I am no expert but the hour hand is way short, and the neck of hour hand where it meets the arrow is thinner on correct hands. These may be from a seamaster??

    How can one tell?
Based on Longines watches I've seen them carry, that's the understatement of the century...

What about the dial?. Isnt it too suspiciously white and clean, with no patina?. I am no expert, but it looks like repainted white and not too long ago.

totally agree with Marc wrong hands for this watch. minute hand far to short sub second hand looks to be genuine . Other than that the dial looks to be in mint condition.

Hello, all. I'm the vintage specialist at European Watch Company, and I just wanted to jump in quickly. I really appreciate the feedback in this thread. We're a small staff, and we work with a high volume of watches. Unfortunately -- and this is not a request to be let off the hook -- we can miss things here and there. The listing has been adjusted to mention the replaced hands and crown, and we've lowered the price. I can't say the price will satisfy all of you, but I don't think that was the bigger concern.

Admittedly, my expertise in vintage watches has gaps, and that's why I appreciate folks like yourselves. Going forward, if you catch anything like this, please feel free to email me directly: [email protected]. Our intent is to sell good, honest examples of vintage timepieces, and the occasional help/tip is valued and appreciated.

This is really the only forum I ever participate in, and that's because it's easily one of the best remaining bastions of friendly and productive watch discussion. Thank you!

    Best,
    Shane

I've dealt with Shane previously at EWCo, and he's a good guy. Also very straightforward, as his above post illustrates.

My actual experience with them had been with Pateks And Vacherons. I recall a while back they were offering a 2998 with an original 7912 bracelet and #6 end-links. I called and spoke with Shane to verify that the bracelet and end-links show on the watch would be the ones actually sent with the watch. I was told they were and asked why. I told Shane that the end-links alone, appeared to be original and very valuable. At that time, and I believe that they were just getting their feet wet in vintage Omegas, he was quite surprised. I also recall that this particular offering was discussed here. By the time I begged or borrowed the funds needed to make an offer, it was gone. This experience leads me to believe the offering on this Ranchero was an honest mistake that Shawn corrected immediately. They are honest people, but pricey as I said before.

Well, it's hard to ask for more than that. Sounds like a good operation.
