Looks very clean, agree the price looks a little steep but someone will probably pay it.

It's a very early 145.022-69. Price would make more sense if the watch had it's original 1039/516 bracelet.

Edit: Sorry, both the 1039 and 1116 were OEM.

Ambitious with that bracelet...something about seeing a classic watch with an obviously incorrect bracelet is just wrong. I'd rather see it without one, being sold as the head only...

In checking MWO, it appears that either the 1039/516 or the 1116/575 could have been used as OEM for the earliest 145.022-69. As the 1039/516 combination is going for $1,000 these days, I believe that this bracelet combination would offer more value for such a high priced offering as this. An 1116 was offered this week on EBay for $140.

I think its all original. Thats a decent price for an honest example from a dealer with a great reputation. Buy the dealer, not the watch!

I don't care who the seller is, $6,250 is too high a price for this 145.022-69 1116/575. To me the bezel is not even first rate. Unless it is one of the rare tropical 69's, I just don't see it. This kind of money should get a buyer a 145.012-67 cal 321 with DON or even a 105.012.

FYI, I purchased a DON 145.022-69 at the start of this year for less than half of the OP watch. And I think it is a better example. :)

It's amazing that in only 4 months the price point has potentially doubled, at some point this bubble has got to pop right?

Not really. I was fortunate to find this watch at that price. It was a bargain. Sometimes you get lucky.

Conversely, The OP watch is overpriced IMHO. The real market price of today is somwhere in the middle.

Can't help myself here... there are many members here on OF who are absolutely expert in finding and securing vintage pieces at a real bargain. These individuals I hold in the highest esteem; they have accumulated vast knowledge, have wide WIS networks, and put the time in that is necessary to score the rare barn finds. It's not luck.

Given that, I don't think its fair or reasonable to use these barn finds as a standard for which all forums members should measure their acquisitions by. Most members don't have the detailed knowledge, connections, and most of all the time to search high and low. For them, examples like this Milton watch offer an opportunity. Being over-priced is all relative sometimes... (and sometimes not of course).

Can someone find me a nice 69 transitional, straight writing caseback, in excellent condition for $3000. I don't really have the time to look myself. Thanks. :D

My early 145.022-69ST (pre moon caseback, DON bezel, 296xxxxxx serial) has a 1116 that, states the seller, is original to the watch.

The price seems quite high, even in today's market I think.. But I'm sure someone will pay it as it's from a reputable dealer.

    Personally, I would be looking for a 145.012 or -68 if I had $6k in today's market...
