Hi, I just came across a nice 145.012 during my ebay wanderings. just wanted to share Everything seems to be legit , hands and dial patina are matching well. In addition, a patinated red racing chrono hand is offered, but cannot be installed if I understood well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/omega-Speedmaster-pre-moon-Cal-321-ST105012-67-Ultraman/321981739242?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=20131017132637&meid=06e559acb1104df6884a3a1cf65488b9&pid=100033&rk=1&rkt=4&mehot=pp&sd=321981739242Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Already more that 4000$ and still 9 days left.......
Ah! no worries, the reserve has not been met; is an unruly game and yes, it does look nice to my untrained eyes!
To attach an aftermarket red chrono sec (also not sure if it's the correct one) does not make it an Ultraman. It's just a speculative marketing gimmick
I like how he mentions that "95% of the watches up for bid on ebay aren't original" -- how very reassuring to potential bidders!
In this particular case, it might actually be a legit Ultraman. Read the description and the research on serials.. if this is a fraudster, he's a very knowledgeable one and has gone to great lengths to prove that it's legit...
Agree. I saw this yesterday and at first thought it was someone offering to fit an aftermarket chrono hand on it, but if that was the case, he would have just done it before listing and called it the Ultraman without any qualifiers.
I actually have no reason to doubt the watch; I just thought the random line attacking 95% of other eBay listings was a bit of a non sequitur and possibly counterproductive. I think it's probably way less than 95% overall, but maybe the seller is referring to 321s.
Oh, I wasn't directing my comment at you specifically. I agree it's a bit off-putting, even if it's true - at least for 321's.. It is exceedingly rare to find a fully original 321 on ebay, but that certainly doesn't stop me!
His serial numbering is meaningless. Those with known serials but those serials are many hundreds apart and I know that there were not that many made from factory. It may have come from a similar range but yeah right unless I see some paperwork, the hand itself, etc.
No but the hand is very specific to the watch there been some chronostop or racing hand placed on there the shape length and color of the hand is unique. P
@Kringkily, there is a pic of the hand. Any tips on how to confirm whether it's correct for an Ultraman?
Here is a link to a Hodinkee article and an auction link with some pictures. Don't know if this is validated. https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/bring-a-loupe-october-23-2015 http://www.kaplans.se/en/auktioner/2867/vara/1164531
having an ultraman is so cool... guess if the red chrono hand is fitted on the watch maybe we can better determine the authencity
