Starting an NFL thread with week 1 almost in the books. Some observations:

14 black starting QBs sets an all time record

Aaron Rodgers used to say he owned the Bears, well, the Packers own the Bears with the blowout yesterday. Bears should have picked a QB with the #1 overall pick

Tua is for real, if he stays upright, he will become an elite QB this year

NYG looked horrible, they paid Jones who might have a hangover

SF with Mr. irrelevant went from playoff contenders to SB contenders

Rams might not suck as bad as most had anticipated

Lamar looked pedestrian, but they may have found a good WR in Zay Flowers

Cincy is off to another slow start

WASH (refuse to call them by their new name) finally played in front of sellout crowd on opening day

Tonight is potentially the best match-up of the week NYJ vs. BILLS; would love to see #8 NYJ come out on top

Others?

Pats almost pulled an upset against the Eagles. Eagles looked worried during the last minute of the game.

Washington Commanders. See, that wasn't so hard.

As a Packers fan, I'm just curious to see Love against a team better than the Bears, but so far so good.

I'm a fan of the 49ers, partly because some SF mates introduced me to the game and partly because my least favorite people in the US happen to all be cowboys fans.

Saw Gayle Sayers play at Wrigley Field 😲, but was too young to have any clear memories.

Despite growing up in Chicago, I latched onto the (then) Oakland Raiders, and very much enjoyed watching them during their Golden Years.

Completely ignored the NFL from ~1980 through 2019 (much preferred the NBA), but then began to follow the (now) Las Vegas Raiders. Unfortunately, Mark Davis is decidedly not a chip off of the old block, and I dislike their most recent coach. But I'll continue to follow them, at least for the time being.

Packers fan also here (from WI originally); promising play from a young team; Doubs and Watson have potential to be a great WR combo; Musgrove looks like a solid TE; Jones reminded everyone why they gave him a huge contract, he turned the game around; Love is calm and seemingly patient so bodes well, hope they ride the confidence into a good team.

Kirk Cousins seems like a nice guy I just can't stand him. He would be demoralizing were he the QB of my team. He's like a better paid Jay Cutler with more talent around him.

Fun to see Purdy play well in SF; nice to see a local guy make it big and play well.

T. Lawrence playing much better with new staff/coaching, he's better than I thought.

Giants are awful; Jones is mediocre. But give America's Team some time to screw up the season like they usually do, Dak is avg.

Looking fwd to Rodgers playing tonight, tbh I hope he has a horrible game, but knowing him he'll play with a perceived chip on his shoulder and play lights out.

As a long time WASH fan, I couldn't agree with you more. He has always chased the cash, nothing but the cash.

Go Pack Go!!!!!

I been a Chicagoland resident since the early 90's, so I've actually been here longer than Wisconsin where I was born and raised. But always been a Packers fan. If Jordan Love is even just a pretty good QB that's an amazing run of good fortune for the team. Maybe though he can not be the drama magnets that the last 2 QBs have been. I honestly started to even feel bad for the Bears as they imploded yesterday. But I still wore my Packers shirt for work today. 😀

Nice to see the Dolphins pull out a win on the road against a quality team. Defense against the run is going to need some work though.

Dumb mistakes by Chargers certainly helped.

Is it true that this game is called football because the ball is 12 inches long? (Asking for a friend)

If Tua stays upright this season, he'll join the ranks of the young elite QBs, he had one heck of an afternoon yesterday.

So, who do you guys have for tonight? Bill's are slight favorites at -2.5 vs. NYJ. I got the Jets winning.

And what's the acceptable pressure range in order to be right for Brady's balls?

Allegations that Brady ordered the balls be deflated below the minimum 12.5 psi are fake news. 😗
