Hi Everyone, In no small part thanks to your help steering me away from a bad redial and toward an original one, I'm now the owner of a c. 1954 Conquest 9000 1 in stainless. It's my 4th vintage watch (SS Antimagnetique, SS Seamaster, 18k Rose Gold IWC Cal. 89), and easily my favorite. I think the refined yet rugged proportions of the case, bold applied indices and caseback plaque are hard to improve upon. I guess Longines agreed, considering the Heritage reissue. There's a bit of deterioration on the dial between 8 and 12 o'clock, but generally not visible with the naked eye. That contrast band is a mystery to me; how it can appear darker, lighter or invisible depending on the light and angle. My watchmaker today showed it gaining 17-23 seconds per day, not bad for a 65-year-old watch. Before receiving it I emailed Longines asking for the history of the watch and look forward to receiving it. Thanks again for your help in my search. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. Ben
That’s a handsome Conquest you have there.!! Much congrats and wear in good health ! As I peruse vintage Swiss , I’m starting to think that Spruce is right ...here’s my second vintage. A simple dressy tank. Picked up for $240 off ‘Bay.
