Newer rubber band for SMP300, would it fit a 2254.50?

Hi, my lately daily driver is an astonishing SMP 2254.50 “Peter Blake” on OEM ss bracelet. I consider putting it on an OEM newer SMP300 rubber band with deployment clasp. Both cases’ between the lugs distance is 20 mm, but the newer SMP case diameter is 42 mm (thickness 13.6 mm) while the 2254.50’s is 41 mm (thickness 11.5 mm). Will appreciate input from those who did this if possible at all. Thx. In advance for advice.

That’s a 2254.50, the 2540 was a Polaris.

It will not fit due to the current generation SMP 300 having a bloated case height compared to the skinnier 1120 days. The positioning of the spring bar insert on the new generation SMP rubber straps, relative to the spring bar indent holes drilled into the inside of the lugs will not line up.

But you can order some OEM rubber straps that the 2254 originally came with, back in the mid 2000's. https://omegaforums.net/threads/can-i-counter-fit-omega-seamaster-300m-straps.150134/#post-2051826

Congrats on your 2254! Mighty fine & thin dive watch. It was my very first Omega back in the day, and I miss it dearly. May it accompany you on many memorable journeys and adventures.

Here is my 2264.50 on the current gen OEM rubber (standard buckle version).

Others are correct, the spring bars do not line up perfectly, so I really had to work to get the spring bars in place. I attempted this after seeing it on another forum member (I will link that thread when I find it).

Makes for a really good travel companion.

You can still get rubber straps for these.

The top strap is the "sports strap", the rubber piece's part number is O97996082 and the clasp is 94531803. The bottom one is 98000085. It was intended for the GMT but it fits.

The other rubber strap for the 2254.50 is basically junk.

You will find straps looking like the lower one on eBay but most of them are bad copies. Do not buy them!

You will get the best prices on new from Omega directly. I had to replace the rubber part of the sports strap and that was $250. I don't remember what the other pieces cost but of course they are not pocket change.
