Just joined this resourceful forum. Long time member on TimeZone.com. Recently retired and started looking at the Omega Seamaster 300 from the 1960's. Spent my teenage years in Okinawa, Japan on U.S. Air Force Base, where all my summers were spent enjoying scuba and snorkling with my buddies. Used my summer job savings to buy a brand new Zodiac Seawolf in 1965 at the military retail store there, just because I liked the looks. They sold Rolex and Omega too. I lost the Zodiac Seawolf years ago. Now I want to "correct" my mistake in not getting the Omega Seamaster 300 back then, so I went on a search. That's my story about how I came to this forum. Happy to be here now.

Best of luck with your search. When I looked up your model I saw examples like below. Simple, elegant, timeless. Is this the one your are searching? Actually prices on Chrono24 are not outrageous.

Good luck on your hunt. But make sure to do plenty of research (the Vintage Omega sub forum is a great resource) because there are tons of fakes out there.

You might also want to take a look at the new Omega Seamaster 300 heritage - it’s patterned after a slightly older model than the one you are looking at, but it’s a great watch.

That is a 165.024, where the lume has been removed from the dial. The OP may also be considering previous straight-lug versions, such as the 165.014, like this one with a restored bezel.

A very big thank you to all those folks who took time and even posted photographs to respond to my introduction. Your input is very useful. I think I prefer the Ref. 166.024. I will admit I do not remember at all the particular Omega dive watch the military retail store on Okinawa offered for sale. I do remember my brand new Zodiac Seawolf cost me $100 in 1965 and the Rolex and Omega dive watch at the same store were priced $150 and $125 respectively.
