What are the odds that we will hear from the buyer? My bet is not.
I'm troubled by the thought of the "quick flip". Not something that is expected on this forum.

Well I've made my attempts in contacting the buyer to no avail. Are forms of communication during our negotiations were mostly text messaging and now I get a reply of sorry you got the wrong number this isn't Dan. So like the other members have said he's been here on this site for 3 years and with a pretty darn reputable standing which influence my decision making so why he hasn't chose to respond yet is strange to me. He is a resident of Florida and get supper substantial setbacks from the hurricane and absolutely deserves a break in that aspect but there's some open issues that need to be addressed and I fear they may never come to light. That being said I want to thank all the members participating giving me advice especially the one who opened my eyes and made me look at things more closely it's a valuable lesson I've learned. It's been a pleasure talking to you guys enjoy the rest of your weekend.

@boat2dan has read this so we should hear something as he's online.

I do have a feeling it's going to be a deal was done and then OP wanted more after other member offered more.

Dan here, Just finishing up for the day and saw this thread. Have been mired in hurricane damage here in Florida. As per this watch situation lets review, yes I contacted Robert via the form requesting he call me we had a good conversation he informed me a friend gave him the watch I congratulated him on that. I asked was his intentions to sell he replied yes I asked if he had a asking price, he exclaimed make me a offer I offered him 3500.00 for the watch he agree, then I paid him via pay-pal his ebay account told him they were going to hold his funds for 21 days, he did not agree with pay-pal can't disagree with that! He promptly refunded me and said he was going to send me the watch let me look it over and come up with a payment solution, no big problem. Watch arrived 3 days later looked watch over shows plenty of use although the dial has spotting on it, as we know the dial in most cases determines the a large portion of the watch. I promptly called the OP explained watch had arrived although with issue's for my disliking I was going to return it to him he exclaimed no just make me a offer and proceeded to tell me 8 months ago he listed it in his local newspaper for 85.00 and no one called on it? I said are you sure I'd offer 2000.00 on it he agreed. The next day I went to his bank promptly deposited the money, then 4-5 days later I received a nasty email telling me to pay the balance or return the watch asap! I replied via email after a second nasty email, explained to him we had agreed, then two nights ago I get another with him apologizing for his emails and wishes me best of luck with the hurricane damage and set backs( that was nice) then yesterday a PM with the nasty's all over again, telling me if I don't return he is going to escalate the situation, and now here we are. By the way my watchmaker has the watch and was not impressed with it's condition. For me it's not the money and is all about the principle of the situation, any of us here from time time to time feel good or not so good on our purchases as per value. I assure all I did not perform anything dishonest with the OP. Regards Dan

We have ALL pitched lowball offers on EBay to unsuspecting sellers, with dodgy / poor imagery or thin descriptions… using our personal knowledge, gained here or elsewhere, to ascertain real value
No, we ALL haven't.

Hearing both sides of the story, seems to me a transaction was agreed upon by both parties who seemingly walked away satisfied until the OP had someone tell him (again, after the initial advice) the watch was worth more.

My best wishes to both folks in the difficulties they're facing in their personal lives, however I don't think this is something worth starting a witch hunt over. Especially those calling for boat2dan's head after he didn't respond within 12 hours. Hell, I've gone a week or two without checking into the forums, and I don't imagine I would have all that much time if I were recovering from a hurricane.

Simply return the watch Dan. There's no need to point out where our stories differ from each other. You and I can break it all down but that's not going to get us where we need to be. I find it strange that you were running from a hurricane but had time to make sure the watch got to a place to start repairs on it but that's just me. I learned a lesson and of course anybody would have a change of heart when they find out what to watch really was worth when they were told otherwise. I still don't see why you refuse to return the watch and get your money back if there isn't substantial profit. A profit that rightfully belongs to me whether I got it in a poker game or for Christmas.

And to clarify once again to all the members I did not know the true value because of the damages it had only wet was being told to me my Dan which was what I have previously stated. Yes the deal was done and a couple days later is when I found out from another member who in his opinion told me I was taking advantage of and this started my quest of getting what belongs to me back. Dan was the only one I was in communication with the whole way through . it wasn't until it was over that I talked to any other members so draw your own conclusions from that.

I'm on team Dan now, mostly because he asked to return the watch upon receiving it, which both parties confirmed. Sounds like the OP was a little too anxious to get the watch sold and is now regretting it. Dan could return the watch, BUT I don't judge him for keeping it, a deal's a deal

At this point the principal parties need to take this off air and private.
