Chill chill it's only been 5 hours on a weekend. He could be out on a boat 馃槣 or out for the day. Give the guy some time before he's hung drawn and quartered.
Fair point, you're right, apologies. Pitchfork is back in the barn馃榾

@GATSBY1 , I am astonished that you sent a 2k to 4k watch to someone on the internet without any payment. Got to be more careful. In general, the people here are gentleman/women but heck.

I'm tempted to message @boat2dan and offer him $500 for his trouble and will take it off his hands for $2500 unseen. There's probably a long queue... Seems unlikely he moved it that quickly but all of his threads relate to buying and selling so, this may be what he does.

Let's hope he comes back and justifies his buying price (he doesn't have to but I think he'll win by doing that) or offers you a some extra. I don't know him myself but I'm sure others do.

Good luck, Chris

I am new here also and always met people that are honorable and very helpful. People like Boat2dan really give a bad name for all other members.
Yes GATSBY1 have violated many rules and was fore-warned and that act was complete stupidityon his part, but in the same manner the Member here undoubtably took advantage of someone who came for advice - shame on him. As a forum of predominantly good honest respectable members we really cannot make the victim financially whole but we definitely can identify and warn everybody like we justifiably do for shady sellers on Ebay.
Lowballing on Ebay is a different matter as that is an auction site and business is not done based on trust.
Behaving on the forum better than people do on Ebay is not a very high goal to achive.
I for one love this forum and trust all veteran members without question until proven otherwise.

I think you ought to know the whole story before casting aspersions on boatdan.

I don't really want to comment on the original price, but I can say with some experience that knocking 1500 off is pretty excessive. I've two project Heuer Carreras, a 3647T that required an original crystal, tension ring and crown, and also a rough 2447T that needs a dial, various hands, crystal, and tension ring. Parts are available and the costs are high but not crazy. With 800-1000 USD I am sure anything on the OPs 2447S could be corrected and the watch fully serviced.

Would love to hear what can justify knocking 1500 off.

And haven't read the whole thread but a good pricing framework is available here...

Unless GATSY1 is totally lying through his teeth (which I doubt he has been; simply based on the fact that it took a lot of persuation on the part of many members for him to mention the name of the buyer), I believe what happened is clear. I think if GATSBY1 is simply looking for vengence he could have done that in one-sentence-posting.

You guys are right, may be I am rushing to conclusion. I am only voicing my opinion based on what has been discussed here. If he shows up and comes up with a great reasoning and most members (not including me) agree with him then of course I will apologise profusely for my mistake.

The only point I am trying to make is this Forum is not like any other I have seen (I am not an expert by any means), in that when any item comes up for sale in the Private Sales it is under the watchful eyes of all member and the members do pitch in to point out any important critical point about the item that was not included in the description by the seller. Openness and honesty are what made me a beleiver of this forum.

It's like with drugs, a pirogue is an entry level enabler....you think you can control it, you think you're cool.....and before you know it you're a full fleshed criminal getting tattoos in jail.

Don't do it. Just say no. Swim.
