Newbie Question: Why does this sub-forum exist, considering Universal Geneve is dormant?

Hi all

So this website has sub-forums for four non-Omega watch brands:

Rolex, Longines, Universal Geneve, & Zenith.

Obviously I can understand there being a Rolex sub-forum, as it's a mega-popular brand.

I can sort of understand Longines and Zenith, as they used to make fine quality watches, and are moderately popular today, although they've lost a lot of their ultra-luxury status.

But why Universal Geneve?

Is it because they used to make great watches?

Or is it because there aren't many Universal Geneve forums out there, so this website seemed like a good spot for one?

Or is there another reason?

I'm not complaining of course, I'm just curious why a dormant watch brand has its own sub-forum ahead of brands like IWC, Patek, etc.

Thanks for your opinions.

Not really much needed to justify here , which I won’t do. Best answer is simply because we choose too.

Sure, I'm not looking for justification, just curious as to why it is.

I'll interpret your answer to mean you like them, so why not.

No justification needed, just read and look through the threads on UG forum and you will understand pretty soon...
Or better, stop drinking Perrier, save the money and just buy one to understand...😉

Invicta exists. Should we have a sub-forum for it? 😉

This sub-forum is actually just a front to enable cult members of the church of St. Lou to worship in peace.

I encountered a 40’s Tri Compax for the first time in a vintage shop in Paris 2015 . It was the most amazing coolest little temporal universe. The proprietor would not sell me either one of the two he had because he did not believe I could service them in the states. He did sell me a 2998-6 speed master. I went home, found these forums, bought the Sala UG book, learned about the importance of the brand and never looked back. (And they service just fine here in the USA) Read about the brand here. Read about the brand on Hodinkee and the other watch sites. See some in the metal. You will answer your own question.

No, nein, non! It's for us to enjoy 1990s gold-plated Universal Geneve Corporate models and the ones with Gaddafi and Saddam on the dial.

Can someone remind me which one Donald Trump wore (or at least auctioned off)?

We should delete the Rolex subforum because essentially you can't get most models anymore.

This thread needs pictures.

I think the shortest and simplest answer is to understand omegaforums as a vintage focused site. In that context, all makes sense.

Soon the UG subforum will rise to rule ALL of omegaforums, and make every other brand a subforum onto itself, and then.................................................................we will get a new forum logo. It has been prophesied.

My question wasn't "Are Universal Geneve good watches" or "Why do people like Universal Geneve watches", it was "Out of all the watch brands which could have their own sub-forum, why does a dormant brand have one of the four branded sub-forums".

I don't believe it's an unreasonable question.

I think the answer "no reason in particular, we just happen to like them" is acceptable.
