    Hi Folks
this could be my first dip into the world of a quality watch but need reassurance the caliber is a 1022. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum, the only way to get reassurance about the caliber inside is to ask the seller for a picture.
If the seller refuses, then don't buy.

This is not a matter of "fake or real", it's a matter whether it might have been doctored or not. Vintage watches are often real but have had dials refinished or repainted (a big no no for purist collectors), case polished (another big no no) or parts swapped.
People here will only advise you to buy a watch that's completely original.

For more guidance, you should read the very nice thread posted by @ConElPueblo called "Learn how to fish".

    Good luck
