De Ville and SM600 seem to be popular at the moment. Especially SS. I spent a lot of time yesterday looking for empty cases for the 56x movements I have been restoring. Disheartening when beat up gold caps are going for 200, and replicas for 6 or 700.

Everything has been difficult to find at a reasonable price for me. I've scoured the internet. I've come to the conclusion to mostly rely on the forum, otherwise it's just too much time wasted. Ha, time.

too much time wasted.

Instant gratification tends to be expensive.

It's all about the hunt, patience it key.

99% of the watches for sale on the internet are lingering on the market because they are generally crappy and/or overpriced. Good examples at fair prices sell quickly. You may need to change your hunting tactics.

Are there any tips other than the "how to fish" thread? Or is it basically hunting until you get lucky?

It does seem that people who educate themselves, hunt everywhere, and cultivate relationships seem to get lucky more often.
