So nearly 12 months of loosely browsing for my first luxury watch, I have finally got my hands on a new Omega SpeedMaster Professional Sapphire (311.30.42.30.01.006).

So many hours on the internet researching, youtube videos and back and forth of other models. Intially having my heart set on a Seamaster. Then trying to figure it I go with the Hesalite and so on, left it for a bit but the bug came back and could not resist any longer. I decided on the sapphire as I love the display back, and have very OCD on scratches.

Upon collecting with all the enjoyment and the lovely presentation moon box. I was left with another little suprise!!!
1)They have changed the paper weight
2)Omega have now removed 'only' from the case back. Reverting back to ' The First Watch Worn On The Moon'

After seeing all of the pictures, videos, and reviews I did not expect to get a new revision.

Looking forward to getting as much wrist time, and compliments with my purchase.

Congrats! I know what you mean, also spent quite some time trying to decide on the models, and I also really like to see the movement, so had to go with a sapphire sandwich. Also OCD with scratches. I guess my case with scratch-avoidance-ocd is even worse, since I went for ZrO2 instead of stainless steel.

I ordered mine .006 yesterday and received it 5h ago(thank you Rob and Toppers), mine have the "fixed" case back but older style medallion (paperweight)(I wasn't aware of newer one)

That may be the case

 

My guess would be 2015 ish.

The newer 2016 serial numbers appear to start with 87xxxxxx, and also you appear to not have the newest clasp (and bracelet?) revision.

I nearly pulled the trigger on a .005 that had all the same other bits as yours (bracelet, paper weight, 778xxxxx, etc) that was stamped May 2015.

Does mean they've had the text fixed for longer than I thought though, but that's a good thing.

Anyhow

 

There's a new bracelet/clasp on the newer speedmasters. The push buttons are back near the professional line on the clasp among a few other minor differences.
