Found this seamaster 300 at a local jewelry shop. I was told that it is all original. I didn't ask a lot of questions about it when I was there because I've been looking for a constellation so I wasn't super interested, but I took a picture bc I don't kno much about seamaster and wanted to do a little digging. What I've found so far is that I believe that it is a ref 166.024 with a caliber 565 but the bezel looks different then the ones I found for sale on chrono24. The numbers look to be not quite as bold. The box around the date also looks a little off from the few pics I've seen. I'm sorry about crappy pic I took it in haste and w cell phone but can someone please fill me in about this watch the best they can I would appreciate it greatly.

Are you interested in buying it? It is called a "watchco" type because everything about the watch is new except for the movement. These watches are readily available in essentially brand new condition so it usually comes down to price on these watches...

No not really just curios more then anything. The guy at the shop told me this was a vintage watch from 1967 but I was suspicious because the dial and lume looked so clean. He was asking $7000 usd for it.

The case looks really polished though for a new watch

I'm gonna walk back my statement a bit. It is either a "watchco" type or what appears to be a frankenstein... Could be that just the dial is a service dial. I say that because the bezel does looks vintage and because usually watchco's don't have big triangles...

That's a real dial, but not in period.

So is the dial correct for the ref but just a newer replacement? Like it was sent to Omega or something?

Not exactly... I've been out drinking so I'm not in the best place to answer this. It all comes down to price in this. To me the dial and hands are later, I'm not an expert on these so I'm not going to comment on them being right or wrong.

These could be service parts or this could be a Frankenstein. I can say the dial and hands are not correct exactlyas this watch was made.

Whatever it is there's one thing for sure, it isn't a $7000 watch. Pass.
