Hello, I am a new member and have browsed this forum a bit as a non-member. I would LOVE to joint the club and purchase and Omega one day. My wife found this Constellation at an estate or garage sale a few years ago and i found it in a drawer today. She paid $25 for it! I glanced at it then shook it back and fourth a couple of times and the thing started working! I am wondering if it is authentic and what the value might be. The face is worn and has light scratching, the band is something short of a drugstore bungee cord with cheap metal on it. Its Shameful to put such a band on a watch carrying this name! Maybe the band was why it was $25? They might not have seen the face. Any input would be MUCH appreciated. Thank you.
Its a very dirty and scuffed up cal 712 ultra thin. Cleaned, serviced and with a new crystal it would make a lovely dress watch for someone.
Nice watch. Still has some light starburst on the bezel and the whole thing should clean up nicely. Ditch that crappy bit of scrap metal and get a nice black leather strap and you have a great watch to wear to the opera, or the pub. PS: Also no need to mention that it will require a clean, oil and adjust by a trusty watchmaker. Cheers Jim
Thank you all for your responses! This is such a great source for information. I am guessing in order to date this peice I would need to have the case back removed? Anyone have a recommendation for good watchsmith in the Norfolk /Virginia Beach area? To have work mentioned above performed. May consider selling this although it is my wifes find so up to her! Thanks again.
The cal 712 Connie came in in 1969 and a year or two later everyone was nuts for integrated bracelets so you can assume its probably in a 2 year window. To get any closer you probably need an extract of the archives.
Thanks for the info. That makes it sound kinda rare? what does the extract cost? Reason i ask is my brother actually has a watch that belonged to our grandfather! It might be worth getting the Extract on! Here are some pics he just sent me....it looks really cool in comparison to the constellation i posted. Any info or in-site on this would be greatly appreciated! I like the separate seconds hand. It also still works and has original bracelet .
The last one probably a Seamaster powered with Bumper movement, let me guess... Caliber 342 or 343 Great watch indeed... Dude...this is the right place/ site...no need to go to other site
Wow, those are all VERY nice! Any idea on dates? still curious about the Extract from Omega? as it is a family heirloom! Once i get a chance i will take some better pics of it.
Just answered my own question.....HOWEVER their site says the Extract of the Archive is currently not available to customers in the US!!!!????:-(
Yes, but you can order it through an Omega Boutique. There is an issue with Omega selling anything online in the USA. I was able to find out that the case reference number is 167.(0)021. Sometimes you need the extra "0" for identification purposes at Omega: http://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-watches-database?ref=20554 There was a recent eBay auction for an identical watch. Nice big pictures there: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Beautiful-SS...-Constellation-Chronometer-Mens-/221365152946Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Hope this helps, gatorcpa
