I always liked tutone watches. My affinity for them got a boost when a relative rented their home up in the Canyons above Sunset to a "production company" for a two week shooting. The fella running the gig was named "Seymour Butts" and him along with everyone else in the entourage were sporting tutone Tag Heuers and Datejusts. 😁

There are some rare cases where it works for me like the Omega TiTanRAu models and Sedna/titanium. When it’s gold and steel I don’t like it, I’d rather have all steel or all gold.

Only Rolex makes two-tone work. Pass on all others.

Wore a two tone Tag for years. The Ayrton Senna watch of choice….Most comfortable bracelet I have ever worn.

1990s ……Yes
Today…..No

These timepieces shake off their clichéd 1980s associations.

Nope, they do not - they still look like 80's cliche to me...

I agree, there are very few watches where two-tone works for me. One is the Rolex root beer shared above. Another is this AP, ref 25594SA. I never considered two tone before this watch, but there is just something perfect about how they executed it.

My dad always told me if you are going to do something do it right. Never half ass it. Gotta go full gold!

I think Rolex Datejust and Cartier Santos look classic on two-tone.

I grew looking at my fathers two tone DateJust...and I've loved that metal combination ever since...no matter what current fashion trends may be. The first Reverso I ever saw was also two tone. And when I wanted one for myself, I had to hunt to find it...and I'm glad I did.

I've heard many people say two tone watches have definitely decreased in popularity. I personally don't like most, but some are ok.

I have a couple...this being my favourite

Makes me regret not buying any of the very few black dial TDMP watches I have come across.
