New Watch Week!

SO I have gone on a bit of a shopping spree getting into watches. First, I started with a Hamilton Field Khaki Manual Date, which convinced me I could handle a manual wound watch/wearing one every day.

Next, I picked up my Speedy Pro on ebay, which I posted pictures of before.

After that, I picked up the Farer Lander GMT IV after seeing pictures of it, and convinced myself I was "done". I even went on vacation with just the Speedy/Farer, and was 'happy'. BUUUT while on vacation, we were going to go swimming, and I found myself wondering what to wear. The Speedy isn't a swimming watch, and the Farer is 100m but says 'no jumping or diving' (and is on a leather band).

I found myself without a good watch to wear! Fortunately WUS came to the rescue and I found a recently serviced Blue Bond SMP automatic (2531.80), and ordered that. It missed my vacation swim (which ended up just having a naked wrist and having to count on my wife's sports watch), but it'll be here for next time!

I'm very happy with it so far! I got what I think is a solid deal on it for a full-kit. It is a 41mm case, which I was a bit afraid would wear too large, but it seems to fit perfect! I switched over to a blue Omega rubber band, as I dislike wearing a bracelet, and it is quite comfortable. Lume is nice, and the watch is much more attractive than I thought!

BUUUT I called this "New Watch Week". While browsing last night, I also saw that on Chrono24 there was a watch at a really good price that was the 'other' "last watch" I was going to buy. I ordered it yesterday from Japan, and it seems it'll show up tomorrow! However, I'm going to make ya'll wait and see.

Know what you mean. I started with a Seiko Alpinist, now over 20 watches I'm looking longingly at a blue modern Seamaster as well. It will be be 9th watch in 2023 and it's only August 馃槖馃槵.

Difference is that a started with a watch that I can swim with, which I did today.

I got three watches this week. (well one watch and two empty cases I had movements for.)

Hopefully this will do it for a while. I need to clean and strap the watches I already have.

The one thing I got going for me is that these two fill up my second watch roll! My Hamilton, Citizen SkyHawk, and Casio end up in my 3 watch roll, and all 3 Omegas + my Farer in the 4 watch one I've been using as my 'primary'.

Alright, my other purchase this week: A black Denim Railmaster! Shipped from Japan with a brand new filled in warranty card, which makes me think I bought from an AD accidentally. Either way, it cost less than 1/2-MSRP after import duties. The black denim/orange one tickled my fancy the moment I saw it, and it was available at a good price! I don't wear bracelets, so it wasn't worth ~$400 for the bracelet, plus the denim band looks great to me (I know, I broke the 'always get the bracelet' rule).

Impressions so far are very positive. It is a bit thicker than anticipated, but the dial and hands are more attractive than photos show. Screwdown crown was a touch of a surprise, but I guess that means I should have looked into it closer than just the pictures 馃榾

The band is fantastic, it has the metal lined pin holes (for the pin buckle) that I thought were a really nice feature on my Hamilton.

Overall very attractive. BUT, I know you all like photos, so here we go:

It came in a box containing 2 boxes. 1 big cardboard Omega box (background) containing a white Omega box with the wood box inside it. Alas, no watch.

Second was a box with the watch and instructions (plus a receipt from the seller). I'll note the seller was great, shipped within a few hours of my money getting into Escrow, and arrived overnight over the pacific!

Inside the bubble wrap, the watch plus the 3 plastic cards. My first such cards!

Next to the watch I took off my wrist to put this one on (see higher in the thread!)

A good look at the band and dial texture.

And of course, on the wrist!

That brings my Omega collection up to 3, and hopefully my watch collection to a close for a while. Only downside is now the decision on which watch to wear every day is that much harder. My poor speedy hasn't been on my wrist in days!

Congratulations, you have now started down the path of no return! The addiction never ends!
