Having hardly ever worn a watch I started to get an itch I needed scratching. Having recently moved house my wife pointed out that we have a lot of expenses coming with extensions and decorating etc so I dropped the idea for another time.
In January my wife hosted a surprise birthday party for me. I had zero idea because we were due to fly to Thailand for my birthday in a few days and all my family were due to come to ours in Sunday before we flew. Anyway, Saturday night I was truly had and walked into a pub were about 60 people erupted as I walked in.
Having done the embarrassing birthday song (not one for centre of attention), my lovely wife also gave me a present which had to be opened then I was told.

I'm made up with this, she knew I had a thing for Omega, not quite sure why but maybe it's romantic affinity to James Bond and something I grew up with.

Turning 50 wasn't bad after all.....

Looking forward to learning more about watches from you guys. Already been doing loads of reading on other forums to.

Lovely story. Belated Happy 50th and congrats on a stunning watch, the Aqua Terra is a favourite of mine. It's a timeless piece that you can wear with pretty much anything. Enjoy. :)

I had KC strip steak and blue point oysters for my 50th (also in January). May have topped me.

Happy Birthday! Congrats on the great wife and watch too.

My 54th birthday is this coming Tuesday, and I had to buy my own birthday watch because my wife doesn't want to buy me the wrong one, since I have so many. I don't pick her vacations, and she doesn't pick my watches. I don't pick her house carpet or furniture, and she doesn't pick my whiskey. Certain lines can't be crossed.

What a great story, and great watch! Congratulations!

My introduction to the world of watches came in a similar fashion. Mrs. Jones give me the first over-the-top luxury gift I'd ever received in my life: an Aqua Terra :)

Congrats and welcome. What an amazing gift. When my dear old Dad gave me his Speedy it set me off on a journey I could never have imagined. Your watch will always make that connection with the one who gave it you. And that's timeless and special. Enjoy!
