    Hello,

I'm new to this forum, and have been surfing the WUS forums and watches subreddit for a while now as I've been looking to obtain a vintage Omega dresswatch. I recently came across the following watch for sale on WUS and wanted to get the opinion and advice of the experts here.

Vintage Omega Oversized 80 micron gold ref. 2544-2 cal. 265 ca.1950
Movement Type : Omega cal. 265, 15 Jewels, Manual wind, Sub second, Breguet hairspring, incabloc, 18000 A/h
    Working : Yes, Recently serviced.
Case Size : 39 mm without the crown. jumbo.

I did a search on the Omega website for the above-mentioned ref and the dial is designed differently from what is being sold on WUS. Here are pictures of the watch for sale on WUS, and it's currently being sold for US$620. Your thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi! Welcome to the Forum.
Your watch looks like this one
    http://www.lionseek.com/watches/bra...micron-gold-ref-2544-2-cal-265-ca-1950-152d2a
And he also advertises on some more sites.

From my not-so-very-much-expert eye, this looks like a redial to me. Front of Omega does not seem to add up (letters too far apart, not centered), as are the minute markers. Hands I have not seen before on Omega watches from that time. Case looks rather polished too.
I might be corrected by more knowledgable members, but personally, I would pass.

The hands really do not look too clever to me, I suggest you take a look at the for sale forums here as sellers will be questioned by byother forum members if they were to advertise something as completely original and others see anything unusual.

I wouldn't be so quick to write this off as a redial or call out the hands. @gatorcpa could be a big help here! It looks like a nice U.S. cased watch if the dial is original.

Dial looks OK to me. But these are so simple, it's easy to redial. So I can't say 100%.

Hands are suspect. Should have dauphin style, I think.

Might be absolutely the case: the US-pieces are of a different breed

These are special watches - swiss cased (not US) and the largest at 39mm of the manual wind time only "dress watches." The hands are replacements though the dial is probably original but looks like it is a transplant since it looks too small for this case - this case takes about a 34mm dial while this one looks like a 32.5 to 33mm dial.

Huh, thought Central Watch Case Co. was a U.S. based company. Learn something new every day here.
