Hey guys, new guy here. I just got into watches a couple months ago, I love mechanical things and Vintage car prices are ridiculous (at least the ones I'm into) so I turned to vintage watches. Theres something about the mechanical aspect that excites me. Anyway I was wondering how you guys think I did on my first omega purchase, I wanna say its a 72, but could be 73. 1010 caliber geneve. So far my research and what i'v been told on another form is the its very real and original but the dial is questionable. possibly refinished because of the missing "geneve" above 6 o clock. Anyway, I picked it up for $100, did I do alright. I don't really plan on selling it, but am curious as to how much its worth. Thanks..

Polywatch or toothpaste will get it out, takes a fair bit of elbow grease and a cloth.

Looking good . $100 was a bargain . But you need to clean the old gasket out . And replace with a new gasket . Before it ends up inside the movement? Sticky stuff that black goo

Yeah I plan on having that done, I'd do it myself but every watch i'v touched to try an fix, iv broke. So I'll let someone else do it. Any suggestions on if this dial is reworked or if it came this way?

I know the watch sat in a desk drawer for a long time after the old man the owned it passed, so it hasn't been serviced for a while, but still works great and keeps time

Probably rework at some time. As you said the Geneve logo is missing. I don't now how difficult it is to find a good looking dial out there . I for my self would keep as is . Think it looks nice . If you want a new dial they could be find at Cousinsuk . Costing some +£150
