Picked this up this past weekend at a Church yard sale. It was in a bag with a bunch of watch junk. Is this
really what it seams to be. Thanks in advance Chasg

    Welcome!

Yep, it sure seems to be a watch. I hope that was what you were thinking, too.

Okay, I'm totally new, but I'll take a stab at it.

    1964 Omega Seamaster 600, reference 136.001, caliber 611.

To my relatively untrained eye it looks good. It's got the Ts next to "Swiss Made" along with the corresponding lume on the hands. No obvious signs of a redial to me. Fonts look good. Doesn't look like it has been polished. Some corrosion inside, but doesn't look too bad.

Now an actual expert can chime in and tell us how I did.:D

Dial may have been re painted at some stage (based on my observation of the photos provided).

Movement is missing a screw of the ratchet wheel, shouldn't be too hard to find a replacement when you get it serviced.

    A good catch.

Thanks for the info. is there someone in the States that can/will CLA/minor repair?
Seeing as I have so little invested ($2.00) I would like to clean it up a little bit and give it to my son.
    Thanks

What part of the States? A lot of independent watchmakers will do good work on old Omegas for reasonable rates. From what I understand, authorized dealers will tell you it must be shipped to Switzerland and replaced with an exact duplicate for eighteen hundred bucks. Someone around here should be able to point you in the right direction.

Go here and find a certified watchmaker in your area. I’d wager 200-300 for a service and decent leather strap and you’ll have a fine piece there.

A better picture in good natural light would help determine dial originality. Here is an original dial for comparison...
