New to me Seamaster 2454 eBay adventure

Hey guys,

I have long loved the aesthetics of the Peter Blake/Sword Hands Seamaster. In fact, I have had a quartz model that I bought nearly mint a little over a year ago. I like it so much it was the only watch that survived last years ‘new house fund’ purge. Anyway, I went to An Atlanta this weekend to an expensive watch reseller that you are all probably familiar with. They wanted 2700 for their automatic version but would only give me 1200 for my pretty clean quartz. Obviously I passed, and I don’t hold it against them because they are a business and frankly they had a lot of the quartz models on hand.

So, I went home and kept scouring eBay and I found an automatic on an omega strap that had been serviced in May of 19. They guy had some pretty murky pictures but all I can see is that it has a bit of a scratch on the bottom edge of the metal bezel surround. I had him send me some pictures and it looks pretty sharp, no scrapes on the sapphire or bezel that I can find. I paid $1700 but that basically allows me to keep my quartz and I can swap the bracelet between the two at will. I will post pictures of it when it arrives later this week. Fingers crossed!

Do you mean a 2254.50 41mm Peter Blake or am I mistaking it for another version?

Is that as per my avatar? I'm not familiar with the name "Peter Blake". Is that the artist or the yachtsman?
Thanks,

The yachtsman who sadly was killed by pirates I believe. They had alot of press photos with most sword hands omegas but the 2254.50 is usually referred to as the Peter Blake

Thanks I didn't know that I remember him as the skipper of Steinlager II in the Whitbread round the world race in the 90s.

No probs. It's a bloody lovely watch and one of my favourites I picked mine up a couple of years ago. I love it.
